Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed (Mark of Haider)

The story begins when India invaded West Pakistan on December 3, 1971 to occupy East Pakistan so that the forces present in West Pakistan would not be an obstacle in making Pakistan East Pakistan Bangladesh. Major Shabir Sharif Head He was performing the duties of Defense Pakistan in Sulemanki Sector with his company. In front of Major Shabbir Sharif were the bunkers made of concrete by the Indian Army, which contained thousands of enemy soldiers armed with modern Russian weapons. After the bunkers, the enemy's outpost was Jhangar, the border area of India. Behind Jhangar, the enemy had laid landmines for two miles so that even if the Pakistani army managed to reach there, they would fall prey to the mines. After that, the enemy's border village was Beriwala. After Beriwala, there was a defensive canal thirty feet wide and ten feet deep.Under these circumstances, it was almost impossible to swim across the canal.

On the other side of the canal was an important dam which could have been beneficial for Pakistan and the enemy's nefarious intentions could have been reduced to dust. There was a squadron and artillery. In addition, the enemy had the spot of his locust heart army. This war campaign was a little less difficult but Major Shabbir Sharif was always open with difficulties and he got spiritual satisfaction in turning the impossible into the possible. When you came across these difficulties, he used his mind to achieve the target. I had planned. It was a mission with little hope of life and much hope of death. East Pakistan was formally invaded by Indian forces 12 days ago, but on December 3, 1971, the western part of Pakistan also came under Indian aggression. In fact, a major attack was expected on the Jhangar outpost. This was the reason why the Pakistani forces went ahead and planned to destroy the enemy on their fronts. The planning was going on.Major Shabir Sharif presented the plan to his commander and asked him for permission to attack but the brigade commander did not immediately agree considering the sensitivity of the plan. He was hesitant to decide in view of the complexities and difficulties of the plan. On the other hand, Major Shabbir Sharif was constantly insisting on the implementation of his plan. After some hesitation, the brigade commander gave permission.

The evening of December 3 was a blood-curdling cold. Major Shabbir Sharif was leading his company. He first attacked the bunkers made of concrete. The enemy tried to counter with the force of their weapons but Major Shabbir Sharif's company quickly overpowered the enemy and the obstruction of the bunkers became meaningless to them.Shortly afterwards, the retreating Jhangar border post of the Indian Army also came under Pakistan's control. This was the place where Indian military officers were sitting and planning to attack Pakistan. Major Shabbir did not want to give the enemy a chance to take over. Wherever there was an opportunity for courage, he would go to the forefront and jump into danger. Where wisdom and prudence were necessary, he would prove his unparalleled military intelligence. The canal was still two miles away. The area was littered with enemy landmines, death awaited step by step, but it seemed that there was no word of fear in Major Shabbir Sharif's dictionary. He had the same characteristics in ordinary life but now the integrity of the country and the nation was in danger so all his abilities and talents were working automatically. He went through the mines himself and rescued his comrades. Meanwhile, enemy artillery was shelling them. The enemy was also firing with automatic weapons but Major Shabbir's company was advancing under the leadership of its leader as Major Shabbir Sharif's company was getting closer to the enemy. The shelling was increasing. Major Shabbir Sharif's company had covered a distance of two miles of landmines and now they had reached the enemy village of Bariwala. Here Major Shabbir Sharif faced considerable resistance as Indian troops were present in the village with their weapons but the enemy could not stay in front of Major Shabbir and his company for long and Bariwala village was also captured by Pakistani fighters. After retreating, the Indian troops moved on to another village, Gormkhera. When Major Shabbir informed his commander over the wireless, he ordered more caution.

It was necessary to cross the canal in order to advance. Cold water freezing on cold winter nights and Indian artillery shelling on it were creating more difficulties. Moving on from here had become a challenge. Major Shabbir's feelings turned to words and he addressed his comrades in a thunderous voice:"Brave! This is the decisive battle of truth and falsehood. This is the test of our national pride. swear to God! If I retreat, shoot me, and if you retreat, I will shoot you. Whoever wants to stay behind, let him stay. We have to move forward at all costs. Say it! Will you come with me? "

Every word of this speech created a storm of enthusiasm in the hearts of the youth. They all said in unison that we will go and we will go.When Major Shabbir ordered his comrades to advance, all the comrades fell on the enemy. As soon as the slogan of Takbir resounded in the air, hand-to-hand fighting started. The soldiers under the leadership of this great commander showed the essence that despite all the security measures, the enemy had to retreat from these iron fronts. The 43 Indian soldiers stationed there were killed while 28 were taken prisoner. The tanks also tried to show their essence in this battle but the four tanks were reduced to ashes before they came into action and the rest retreated silently.

After this victory, Pakistan had captured important parts of the Great Dam built in the enemy's territory. The most important bridge over the canal also came under Pakistan's control. It was the only means of communication to the village of Gore Makhira. This victory was a blow to the military status of the enemy. The security arrangements of the enemy which were considered invincible by all, Major Shabbir along with some of his comrades destroyed these arrangements.

Major Shabbir Sharif wanted to go further but the commanding officer was not willing to go further so the steps of Pakistani Mujahideen were forcibly stopped. The position was strengthened in the fronts snatched from the enemy. The light of day had disappeared in the dark night. The atmosphere was completely dark.Major Shabbir Sharif was present in the enemy's territory with a handful of his comrades at that time. They had temporarily defeated the enemy, but there were still many tests to be done. The enemy sent more troops to the front. The enemy continued to attack with heavy weapons throughout the night. Major Shabbir's company thwarted all these attacks and forced the enemy to retreat. There will never be a moment in the night when a young man closes his eyes to sleep. The next morning, when the sun rose, its rays shone brightly all around. In broad daylight, India attacked with many times more troops than before. In this battle, apart from light and heavy artillery, it also had the help of tanks. There was not only enemy shelling but also landmines in the surrounding landThey were mortal enemies. So far many young men have been martyred because of these landmines. Despite the fact that the arms were almost exhausted, Major Shabbir Sharif remained steadfast in his position. Many tanks and artillery were silenced, but over time it became increasingly difficult to stop the locust enemy. The whole day was spent trying hard against the enemy. During the night, the enemy launched several more attacks but Major Shabbir and his comrades continued to respond to every attack. Meanwhile, the enemy's company commander somehow managed to reach Major Shabbir's front. MajorShabbir cleverly snatched him in time, killed him and snatched from him valuable documents containing many military secrets. This was a great achievement of Major Shabbir. On the same night, the Indian army attacked with two battalions of the Assam and Jat regiments, but this time too they failed. After a series of failures, the enemy was horrified. It seemed impossible for him to regain his lost territory. The next day, on the afternoon of December 6, the Indian army launched another attack with tanks and air force. Tanks and artillery were shelling indiscriminately, but even this shelling did not dampen the spirits of our troops. A handful of our Mujahids were grinding the teeth of the Indian forces with their courage and bravery.Major Shabbir was looking so happy at that time that no one could tell by looking at him that he was a person who had been awake for many nights. He kept encouraging his colleagues with great enthusiasm. When his artilleryman was martyred at a critical juncture, he had to take care of it himself. They were shelling the enemy with great efficiency. It was the last battle of his life. A shell from the Indian tanks brought a message of martyrdom for him and Major Shabbir Sharif was wounded in the chest and fell to the ground exhausted. The word of martyrdom was uttered on their tongues. As soon as the young men approached them, they had drunk the cup of martyrdom. It was December 6, 1971. At the time of his martyrdom, Major Shabir Sharif's last words were:
